Cosmetic dentistry is a branch of dentistry that deals with improving the appearance of your teeth. Most cases of cosmetic dentistry are elective, however, some cases provide restorative benefits. In this article, we describe the different procedures in cosmetic dentistry.
Teeth Whitening
It is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures. It often only takes a single visit to a dentist's office. As we grow, teeth become discolored from contact with food, medication, drinks, and other habits such as smoking, excessive drinking, and failure to observe dental health practices such as brushing and flossing.
First, the dental hygienist removes tartar, plaque, and any other foreign material from the surface of your tooth. The teeth are then whitened using a bleaching agent making them whiter than they were before.
Composite Bonding
Tooth bonding refers to the repair of damaged, decayed, or discolored teeth using materials that look like the tooth's enamel color. The affected tooth is drilled by the dentist, who thereafter applies the composite material, and proceeds to shape it well before concluding by curing it with a high-intensity light. Composite bonding is among the affordable cosmetic dentistry procedures.
Dental Veneers
Dental veneers are thin linings made from ceramic, porcelain, or composite material that are used to encase your teeth. They are an ideal solution for issues such as gaps between teeth, damaged enamels, cracked teeth, or crooked teeth. Dental veneers are applied on each affected tooth using a dental adhesive.
Implants
If you have lost or damaged teeth, dental implants can be used to replace them. A titanium screw that supports the crown is fixed into the jaw. A crown is then connected to the screw. If you need any of the cosmetic dentistry services above, give us a call and we will schedule an appointment.
